The ONTARIO BLIND BOWLERS ASSOCIATION (FIVE-PIN) was formed to encourage and foster among its members all bowlers in general, the spirit of good fellowship; and to maintain and increase an interest in the game of bowling. to promote, to foster the integrity of and to enhance the enjoyment of 5 pin bowling as well as to instil a sense of pride among active visually impaired and blind bowlers.
Membership is encouraged among blind, visually impaired and sighted five-pin bowlers to participate in our leagues. If you are, or know of someone, who is interested and there are not enough locally located people to form a team at your respective bowling lanes we encourage you to contact us and we will attempt to match you up with others in order to form a team and compete in our events.
We are compiled with two separate Leagues:
Eastern Ontario and western Ontario
Eastern Ontario -all areas east of highway 400 from Lake Ontario to Victoria Harbour.
Western Ontario -all areas west of highway 400 from Lake Ontario to Victoria Harbour.
Our leagues compete in a twenty-eight week tournament with all who participate qualifying in individual awards for the season and culminating in a face-to-face playoff at season's end. The winning league teams then participate for the Cameco trophy, the Ontario Blind Bowlers Association championship.
In addition, we have an annual White Cane bowling tournament where all our teams from across Ontario are encouraged to participate. Many friendships have evolved from this event and an enjoyable time is provided. For information on our tournaments please click on the "Special Events" link.
To find out whether there is a team located near you navigate to either Eastern or Western. We have provided a list of the current centres with contact information. If none of these are near you please contact the President of the respective league and they will try to assist you in getting started for the season.
Looking forward to meeting you on the lanes.
